Guided bone regeneration – From Bern to Bournemouth explores the progression of Guided bone regeneration (GBR) as a surgical technique, and showcases the techniques success of in the hands of a young implant dentist. Drawing inspiration from the pioneering research at the University of Bern Dr. Sharpling explores the historical roots and progressive advancements of GBR, highlighting the outcomes of practice-based research conducted at his dental clinic in Bournemouth. Case studies will be used to demonstrate the modern technique of GBR, and technology will be used to show exciting new methods for monitoring clinical outcomes. By combining historical analysis with cutting edge advancements , this presentation hopes the inspire the next generation of implant dentist that GBR is a valid, evidence based technique, which will be an invaluable addition to their clinical skills.
Dr. Josh Sharpling UK registered specialist prosthodontist, completing his specialist training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in 2021. Alongside this he completed his Master’s degree in Prosthodontics at King’s College London Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences. Dr. Sharpling currently works in private practice on the south coast of England where he accepts referrals for prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Alongside his work in private practice he has published a number of papers in peer reviewed dental journals and has spoken at national and international conferences in relation to dental implants, and the links between oral health and dementia.
