A contentious topic revolves around the fixation mode for implant-supported single-tooth crowns, with debates spanning over three decades. The question frequently encountered in daily practice is whether single-tooth implant crowns should be screw- or cement-retained. This presentation aims to comprehensively analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each fixation mode, providing valuable insights into their respective indications. Additionally, clinical tips and tricks will be shared to proactively prevent potential complications before the integration phase. By fostering evidence-based knowledge, this presentation empowers dental practitioners to make well-informed decisions tailored to the specific needs of individual patients.
Pauline Gutmann, born on November 29, 1991, in Frankfurt am Main, is an accomplished dentist. She completed her dentistry studies at Frankfurt University in 2017, achieving the result “very good” and receiving the prize from the Freiherr Carl von Rothschildschen Stiftung. In 2022, she obtained her Dr. med. dent. Degree, focusing on tooth-implant-supported fixed partial dentures, earning magna cum laude honors. Since 2018, she has been a scientific assistant and dentist at the Department of Prosthodontics in Goethe-University Frankfurt. Pauline was appointed the leader of the clinical student course in dental prosthetics in 2022 and selected as Senior Dentist since the beginning of this year. In addition to her professional achievements, Pauline gained valuable experience as a speaker, participating in the 2022 ITI Open Mic Contest in Basel, where she placed third and won the audience prize. Beyond her profession, Pauline enjoys hiking with her dachshund and partner.
