A prosthetic-driven approach in implantology has emphasized the importance of placing implant in the position according to prosthetic needs and design in order to achieve functional and esthetic results. Due to bone resorption, proximity to anatomic structures or space availability, implant placement in the ideal position may be impossible and additional procedures are essential to yield the expected results. In this case, space management by orthodontic treatment and sinus augmentation by transcrestal approach were done in order to place the implant in the prosthetic-driven position. Regular maintenance is followed throughout the 4-year follow-up period. A thorough treatment planning as well as good communication between dentists and patient is crucial in achieving a successful result.

I am a periodontist who also love to treat implant cases. I work as a lecturer at department of periodontology, faculty of dentistry, Chulalongkorn University. Currently I’m a PhD student at University College London.
