More information

The objective of this presentation was to provide a comprehensive overview of the polydioxanone dome technique in guided bone regeneration (GBR) procedures, presenting a case series with up to 72 months of follow-up after implant loading. The introduction highlights the potential of the polydioxanone dome technique to reduce patient morbidity by minimizing the need for surgical access to remove non-resorbable materials. The presentation also covered essential aspects of the case series, including patient selection, surgical technique, clinical protocol, and data analysis. The case series examined 20 implants placed in 11 patients, demonstrating a survival rate of 100% over a follow-up period of 38.18 ± 19.65 months. The study reported a mean horizontal bone gain of 3.82 ± 1.67 mm and a mean marginal bone level of –0.12 ± 1.17 mm. The polydioxanone dome technique is a promising approach to enhance GBR procedures, alone or in combination with simultaneous dental implant placement.
