More information

We often hear about how modern-day implants boast a 95% success rate, but what about the 5%? What can we, as clinicians, do when a patient suffers from early failure at an implant… or three? By studying a case and referencing current literature, we will take a deeper look into cluster failure behavior in implant dentistry – what causes it, how often it occurs, and what modifications can be made to our protocols to successfully rehabilitate these patients.
Dr. Stefani L. Cheung received her undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with clinical honors. Subsequently, she completed a Master of Dental Surgery degree in Implant Dentistry from the University of Hong Kong, and an Implant Fellowship back at Penn. Dr. Cheung has published in the fields of periodontal surgery and the use of microscopes for minimally invasive dentistry, and is actively involved in various professional organizations for implant dentistry. She currently works in private practice full time, but holds faculty positions at HKU and Penn, and lectures around the Asia Pacific region.
