More information

Sinus floor elevation (SFE), first described over 40 years ago by Boyne & James (Boyne & James, 1980), is still a procedure commonly practiced nowadays. However, it may be one of the most worrying procedures in implant dentistry, especially for young clinicians, part of which because of the relatively in-accessible nature of the maxillary sinus. Before the actual membrane elevation and graft insertion to be carried out, a proper access to the sinus probably set the tone if the surgery is going to be smooth or not. While computer-assisted implant surgery (CAIS) is gaining its popularity in recent years, with promising results reported in the literature, it is perhaps a feasible solution to guide us to the right access during lateral window SFE. In this video, Dr. Fung is going to share his experience in the utilization of sinus surgical guide to accelerate the surgery in a safe and efficient manner.
Dr. Fung obtained his dental degree from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and began his career as a junior house officer in Periodontology and Public Health Department in the Prince Philip Dental Hospital. He subsequently commenced his private practice in 2010. He is the co-founder of Longitude Dental (HK) and Locus Dental (HK). As a general dental practitioner, he formulates comprehensive treatment plan and works closely and collaboratively with Periodontists, Oral Surgeons, Orthodontists, Endodontists and Aesthetic Dentistry colleagues to deliver high quality patient care. He gained experience in dental implantology since 2011. He later obtained the master degree in implant dentistry from HKU under the supervision of Prof. Nikos Mattheos and Dr. Dominic Ho. With strong focus in dental digitization and virtual surgical planning, he developed his special interest and familiarized himself with various surgical techniques, especially in static guided surgery. He is an active ITI member.
